Performance Edge Consulting specialises in forming partnerships with individuals, teams and organisations in the pursuit of performance excellence.

We provide athletes, coaches, parents, officials and entire sport organisations with clinical and applied performance excellence training and counselling. Additionally, we offer performance excellence training to businesses, the performing arts and various other non-athletic groups.

We are committed to professionalism, excellence and the highest ethical standards in performance counselling and consulting. We promote a holistic philosophy and encourage each performer or organisation to use pro-active participation as a vehicle for overall success in life. John Cooksey, Performance Psychologist and Human Resources Consultant

John Cooksey has spent the past 15 years working in human resources, organisational change and consulting roles that have provided strategic and tactical leadership to sales, operations and marketing teams across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Middle East.

His passions include sport, listening to and performing music, and enjoying the outdoors with his family. John provides free psychological support and articles to the official web site for the Australia Football League (www.AFL.com.au) and contributes to the development of elite youth basketballers through the Basketball NSW Intensive Training Centre program.

John continues to maintain an active interest in the success of the Sutherland Police Citizen Youth Clubs concert band, where he was a member and coach for close to ten years, and during this time the concert band won 4 NSW and 4 Australian Championships.

John's qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (NSW) and a Master of Arts (Sydney) in psychology, plus a PostGraduate Diploma in Marketing Management (MGSM). John has also completed Athletic Counselling and Applied Performance Psychology modules at the Australian College of Applied Psychology. He registered psychologist and a member of the Australian Human Resources Institute, Australia Institute of Training and Development, Australian Psychological Society and a Board member of the International Society for Performance Improvement.

Recent Client Partnerships
As Development and Education Director (Australia/New Zealand/South Africa) for Tricon International (KFC, Pizza Hut) John led several teams that were responsible for all human resource and employee development activities. Successful partnerships resulted in:

• Culture management initiatives and the development of a company wide communication strategy.
• The "Path to Success" program for new product rollouts that ensured each internal department was aligned behind a common pre-launch timeline.
• An integrated Human Resources Planning process and formulation of a strategic human resource, staffing and succession plan for all employees.

A subsequent move to Singapore provided an opportunity to work as Regional Training Director (Asia and Middle East) for Tricon International (KFC, Pizza Hut) with a focus on training, leadership development and customer service. Successful partnerships resulted in:

• A strategic operations initiative to ensure the core business was both measured and managed, as seen through the eyes of the customer.
• A Leadership Development program to improve the skills of area and operations management.

As National Human Resources Manager for The Smiths Snackfood Company John provided functional leadership to the Commercial Director and state-based sales and distribution teams, and was responsible for human resource activities for the TSSC head office in Sydney. Successful partnering resulted in:

• A performance management and development cycle that linked the key human resource elements of performance measurement, remuneration, development and career enhancement.
• A full review and subsequent redesign of the grocery service levels and sales structure.

Most recently John was a Strategic Exchange Consultant with the Gartner Group and Manager, HR and Organisational Development for market research consultants The Leading Edge. Immediately prior to forming Performance Edge Consulting, John was employed as a Principal with Austin Thompson & Associates, a business and management consultancy that specialised in business planning, corporate strategy development, customer research and organisational change. During this time partnership success included:

• An integrated human resource strategy to meet corporate objectives at The Leading Edge.
• A Partner Program for existing and potential customers for a division of Austin Thompson.
